The Dark Water Project

Over the weekend, I did some updating to the coffee site and got it looking much better. I’m still thinking about changing some of the background colors. Colors are always a full-blown debate, even when you are debating yourself.

My neighbors across the street moved out in a big rush, and the new neighbors moved in right away. The police are complaining about cars speeding through the neighborhood, but won’t put speedbreakers in. Isn’t that odd? Maybe we should organize a concert to raise money for speedbumps. Hey, it worked in Wayne’s World 2

I was checking out the firebird database project, and it is coming along nicely. It will serve nicely as an embedded db or an option for scripts or programs to work for people who might not have a running db (like mysql or postgres, or even Oracle). There is also a project creating a management console that will just plug-in called FlameRobin. I was thinking of even joining that project. Sounds like a good challenge.

You have got to be kidding

WASHINGTON, April 19, 2005 – Agriculture Secretary Mike Johanns today unveiled MyPyramid, a new symbol and interactive food guidance system. “Steps to a Healthier You,” MyPyramid’s central message, supports President Bush’s HealthierUS initiative which is designed to help Americans live longer, better and healthier lives. MyPyramid, which replaces the Food Guide Pyramid introduced in 1992, is part of an overall food guidance system that emphasizes the need for a more individualized approach to improving diet and lifestyle.

The food pyramid, familiar on box backs for as long as I can remember (and remember, I’m old now) is being replaced with a series of 14 different “pyramids”. Conventional wisdom and long-standing knowledge gets another kick in the butt. We’ll see how this progresses. You can see what yours looks like at MyPyramid.

I got a sunburn on my balding areas over the weekend, and it hurts. Guess it’s time to invest in hats. It has taken several years longer than I thought, so I’m OK with that.

Over the weekend, we saw 2 movies: Saw and The Pacifier. The Pacifier was more or less a rehash of Kindergarten Cop with Vin Diesel. It had some good moments, and Brad Garrett was really funny. Saw was brilliant, though. I don’t have the spoiler tags set up yet, so, I’ll just say that it was riveting and brilliant for now.

Mark put up pictures of his dog, which reminds me that we don’t have any pooch pics here. I’ll need to remedy that.

Bending along high paced glass
packets shooting through
states and countries, speeds amass
router to router seeking you;
the IP address in the header.

I have packets that make the mail
packets that make that sound
the stream of the 80’s guitar wail
And the plans for the robotic hound

I know the weather in your zipcode and that recipe your grandma sent
I have all the images and videos
all are ready for your entertainment.

Yes,  I’m still beating this email plug-in horse.
This update should correct the timestamps, and I am also looking for specific Outlook HTML
anomalies that the plugin doesn’t handle for possible coding fixes.
So Mandrake Linux merged with Connectiva In order to get more of the south american Linux market (Connectiva Linux was based out of Brazil), and they kept getting litigation threats for the Mandrake name from a comic book company(which would have never held water in court), so they changed their name to Mandriva
When I
name products, I try not to make them blatantly susceptible to derisive aphorisms. But that’s just me. I still plan on doing an install soon, just to see how far the mandrake — er — Mandriva platform has=20
come.

still messing with the mail plugin

I just fixed a bunch of PHP in the mail script, and it is correctly identifying valid users and posting from email, in HTML format, copying picture files over, etc.

The screwy HTML from outlook leaves a lot to be desired, and the script isn’t handling a lot of it. The main things are the “=20” line breaks, any blank lines (as outlook creates a full div block and font code for the line, then only has an “nbsp” in the line) and the embedded font code.

It grabbed my picture correctly, but didn’t thumbnail it correctly, and set the pic in the post twice, one with the original url, and one at the end with the local url.

Just a few bugs to work out.
